Walker obtained permission to introduoe the New Zealand Institute Surveyors and Board of Examiners Bill which *u read a fire* time. On amendment* made by the Hoaae of Representatives in the Workers Campeuaation for Accident* Bill, the Hon. Mr. Bonar thought the provieions of the new Clause 20 en absolutely monstrous clause. It nods: " Every policy of accident issued after the coating into of this Act shall oontain only mahyto> visions a* may be approved by the Governor-in-Oouncil."
I The Minister explained that the clause eimply meant that all <v "" tit frns of accident insuranoe policies wen te be approved by the Government; atf that all individual policies should be submitted to the Government, The amendments were agreed te by IT votes to 13. The Public Works Act Bill and Representation Bill were read a first time. The Reporting Debates and Printing Committee had no recommendation to make with regard to publication of a daily Hansard, which would entail on extra expense of £3B per day. The Animals Protection Act* Amendment Bill was committed. Clause 2 was amended, to provide for tho ens ana for native or imported game throughout the colony, commencing en May Ist and closing oh July 31st. With a proviso for restriction or earlier closing on the application of tho A rMmMia>tion Society, Clause 4 was amended, by the addition of the words "to provide thai tho first triennial close year toe native pigeon, pukeko, and kaka shall commence three years from May Ist, 1901. The Bill was then reported, read % third time, and passed. The Council adjourned at 4,20 p.m« to 8 o'oleck.

The House resumed at 7,50 p.m. Technical amendments in the Old Ago Pension Act Amendment Bill were brought down by the Govwaor'a message, and agreed to. The amendment in Clause 4, in th* Animals Protection Act, by theCbuscil, fixing a different date for opening the season in Otago and Southland, waa disagreed with. The Premior intimated that ho did not agree with the amendment in the Private Industrial Schools Regulation Bill. He would like a straight out vote of the House as to whether or not private schools should exist further. He hoped to be able ts get through the business by Tuesday night. On his motion, it was decided that the House on rising meet at 2.30 to morrow. The amendments made the Council in the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitmtion Bill wore agreed to, with one exception, on which managers wen appointed to confer.
