TUKAPA SOCIAL.
The attendance at the Tukipa, social ! a t the Theatre Royal on Thursday , evening was quite up to expectations, the floor being just comfortably filled with dancers. Luring the evening Mr. T. Shaiier Weston, in a very genial and happily conceived speech, thanked the ladies for their invaluable assistance in promoting the success of the social, and also heartily welcomed the Palmerston Institute team. He also presented Mr. Harry Cock, as captain of the Tukapa 111. team, with the Junior Cup. Mr. Cock responded, as did also Mr. Moeller on behalf of the visitors, the latter thanking not only the Club but the townspeople for the warm reception they had accorded to the Institute team, who were greatly delighted with their trip. Three cheers were given for Tukapa 111., also for the visitors, who replied with a similar compliment to the Club. Dancing was then resumed. An excellent supper had been provided by the Ladies Committee Mesdames Yates and P. Webster, Misses E. liennell, Knight, Standish, Thomson, Lawson, Yates, and Dargaville—who are to be congratulated on the result of , their efforts. The Club Committee, ' with Messrs. Smart and Moverley, i secretaries, all did their utmost to en- | sure the success of the social, Mr. A. i. Thomson, as usual, carried out the ( duties of M.C. most satisfactorily, and the music by Mr. McKinnon Bain's orchestra fully maintained the high reputation of the performers. 1
