POLLARD'S OPERA COMPANY.

Or the hundreds of operas that have been staged during the last forty years, it is doubtful if there is one so popular u " Maritana." The reason of this is not far to seek; the story is human and appeals to all hearts, while the music is brimful of melody. What other work contains such gems as " The Harp in the Air," "Alas Those Onimeß," "Let me like a Soldier Fall," "Tuere is a Flower that Bloometh," "Hear me Gentle Maritana," "In Happy Momenta," besides such charming concerted numbers as "Turn on old Time," "Sainted Mother," and " Whaji Mystery." Several of these numbers sill never die. In reviving this melodious work Mr. Pollard deserves the thanks of play-goers, and his attempt to foster a liking for the better class of opera should be encouraged on Friday night by a house packed from floor to ceiling. "The Pollards" will arrive here to-morrow morning, and will appear in the Theatre Royal in the evening. The attraction will be "Maritana," whieh will be staged on • soale of magnificence and completeness seldom attempted outside of Metropolitan theatres. The east will bs a strong one, and will include a new artiste in the person of Miss Marie Mueller, who will be seen u the light-hearted "Gitano."
