THE PROPOSED MEMORIAL TO TARANAKI TROOPERS.
The Patriotic Committee having been approached by many of the public with a view to some fitting memorial of tho Taranaki men who have fallen in South Africa being erected, decided to interview the Committee appointed by the Football Clubs and endeavour to secure unanimity in erecting a memorial for all of the Taranaki men who have be: n killed in action rr have died fr.im disease. A deputation consisting of His Worship the Mayor, Messrs. N. K. MaoDiarmid, and W. L. Newman, therefore, wai'ed on the Commit to-j appointed by the Star and Tukapi Clubs. Aft r hewing the deputation the following rerohit'on wasadoj ted : "That this Committee fa'l in with the views of the Patriotic Committee, as expressed by the depatatir n, and that the erection of a memorial be left in their hands, and that tho P.triotic Commit teo be asko.l to allow four members of this* Committee to act vtiih them in the attainment of this object, and that the four consist of Me sis, J. 0.
