Mitchell, iu pllin clothes, accompanied by a man naufid Williams, went to Catherine Loot's house, on instructions of Sergt. Forlcs, to endeavour to get a conviction. Blth i Mitchell and Williams stited tley purchased beer from the defendant, jut this the defendant denied, and at jhe close of the me her solicitor hauled the Magistrate an information, ayt>-. u i by Mrs. Lock and a Mrs. I charging Mitchell and committing rape on the OCCagiott in question. The sly grog-selling case was adjourned, and Mitchell and Williams were remanded till Wednesday, bail being allowed in .£IOO each.
