FREETRADE.
J [PEB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.] (Received 7, 9.30 a.m.) Melboubne, September 7. Mr. G. H, Reid was the principal speaker at the Freetrade Association annual dinner. He made a vigorous defence of freetrade. The other colonie?, he said, had been driven to Protection by the pernicious example of Yictoria. Now they were going to have Federation, it was found that Protectionists and Free Traders alike were hungering for intercolonial freetrade. Ha urged the retention for the young industries of Australia of that freedom for which they as a people would die.
