DECISIVE DEFEAT OF THE ASHANTIS.
EARLY SUBMISSION OF THE TRIBES I EXPECTED. [PBB PEBSS ASSOCIATION.] (Received 7, 6.50 p.m.) London, September 6. Lieut.-Colonel Brake, with a thousand men and two guns, by simultaneously attacking front and flanks, defeated 3500 Ashantis stockaded at Ojesu, a fetish town in the bush, near Kumassi, killing 500 and wounding many. Ojesu was destroyed. Many Lee-Metfords and Martini rifles were found. Colonel Brake was slightly wounded. Twenty-nine of hiß men were wounded and two killed. The flying columns have had a good effect, and are inducing the tribes to sabmit.
