ANOTHER EDUCATIONAL RESERVE QUESTION.
Wellington, September 7. and Judge EdWards gave judgment this afternoon in Ooanection with the scheme propounded Wallis and the trustees of reserved at Porirua fer the edtcatien of native children. The tenstees suggested that the revenue derived from the land for several years amounting to about £7OOO, and •ho future income, should be added to two other separate endowments in the Wairarapa, and the whole of the lands and funds be applied to the erection of a school in the Wairarapa. The judgment was to the affect that the Court would be willing to approve of a scheme a school in the Wairarapa *wn the condition that it were amended 1 BO f as to provide that the preference should be given to children of the Ngatitoa tribe, or, failing them, to children of the West Coast tribes, and no-youth should be refused admission to the school on the ground of his religious belief, and that no religious tort whatever should be applied to the applicants. The Chief Justice said that if the trustees accepted the view expressed in the judgment, the Court would approve of a scheme amended in that direction. Time was given to the p&ies to consider the position.
