Colonel Plutner has defeated Comnandant Pretoriu3 east of Filnaiss River capturing 26 prisoners, 1000 eat? e, and 31 waggons. Major-General Biden-Powell and Commandant Do Wot recently raced to iccupy W&rm-Baihs Station, north of Pretoria. The Boers won by a few minutes, but Baden-Powell expelled them before they were able to arrange for a defence compelling them to retreat from, a strong Nek. General Baden-Powell with the view of misleading the Boers made elaborate preparations to bivouac, but during the night occupied the railway 16 miles in the Boer's rear and tapped the telegraph wires. He discovered tint Botha was sending a trainful of reinforcements fiom -Pietersburg in response to De Wet's appeals. A trap to capture the train failed owing to tho discovery of BarlcnPowell's presence. The burghers have reminded Botha of his promise that the last stand should be made at Machadodorp.
