He and Mrs. Clarke were <*aved. No details were, given. The message was forwarded from The agents state that they hare do definite news. On Thursday they reoeived a cable from the head <>«*W in Japan, asking if then wu any new* of the steamer, as she was then overdue at Manila- The inferenoe is that she has gone ashore on one of the near Manila. From Thursday Captain Ellis reports that ho met the Futani north of Bonda Island o« the 15th. The weather was bad at the time. Reoelved 15,1.18 pjn. StDMBT, August 25. Messrs. Burns, Philp and Co., agents for the Japanese mail line of steamers, have received the following message:— " Futami Maru wrecked at Mindom Island, this side of Manila. All hands saved." A late message from Gape Kolabite states that the steamer Australia, en route from Sydney to Etstern port*, reports having fallen in with die Futami, which was a complete wreok. She took off all the crew and passengers, also specie and mails. The wreoked steamer carried a laift number of passengers. She had a general cargo, including ten bezea of gold. Received 2t, 6.20 pin. Mahila, August 25. The steamer Futami Maru is ashore at Mundauas Island. The passengers and crew landed and were enoampei for a week, until the steamer Australian conveyed them to Manila. The vessel's cargo is believed to be lost.
