Harkness, H, Brown, Norman McTaggart G w C o b ', VI f Clarke ' W ' McAllumi W. Sole,E.Sole. President: Mr.S.Oliver' vice-presidents: Messrs. E. M. Smith' (M.U.R.), F. Goodacre, T. Haywood, w! Ambury, D. McKinnon Bain. 'Secretary and Treasurer: Mr. A. Hardy. Committee: Messrs. S. Brooks, J. Hurle H W Bullot, F. W. McOomisb, W. McEweii H Mcllwen, W. Beals. Judges.—Poultry: Messrs. I. Goodacre, P. Bellringer W Beals. Pigeons: Mr. A. E. Johnstone.' Canaries: Mr. F. Goodacre. StewardsMessrs. S. Oliver, H. Bullot, J. Hurle W, McEwen, W. Ambury, J, D, Murray G* W Beals, E. Lister, ' The eleventh annual show, which was opened by His Worslrp the Mayor (Mr. li. Dockrill) 011 Friday, comprises a collection of birds which would do* | credit to any show in largo centres, The majority of the exhibits were in far better plumage and condition than was the case last year, and therefore appeared to much better advantage. Naturally the greatest interest centred on the champion bird and certainly Mr. Oliver's Plymouth Rock cockerel was a very fine specimen, but (if alliteration may be excused) for a real-right-royal-rooster, the golden Wyandotte of Captain Hood was the bird : and one that in plumage, carriage' ! frame and gameness was alike excel- ' lent. The "games" were well repre- ! sented, and with a few exceptions did j the exhibitors credit. In Dorkings ( there was hardly sufficient to make'' competition keen, Mr. P. Bellii-eer-5 easily securing two out of the three! 1 honours. Thsßrahmaswererepresentcd' by only one exhibitor. Mr viclWart 's but the quali y of the birds shown r might well have defied competition ] In Langshans Mr YV. Ambury had great success, while the Orpingtons (a very meritorious collection) produced I greater competition. Mr Oliver, c S usual, took all the awards in Plymouth l Rocks, and in Houdans Mr Murray s< had some splendid birds. The YVyan i iottes were a grand lot, and attracted' nore attention than any birds in the 1 Show, Both the Minorca? and Leghorns ivere largely in evident, some of the G

i birds being particularly well-bred Andalusians were but moderately re J presented, while in Hamburghs then was an excellent collection. As th< , ages of the live table fowls were noi I given it would be useless to make am I comment on the exhibits beyond th( fact that the Dorkings were in th( 1 front rank. Bantams were numerically • strong, though very varying in quality . Messrs Wilson, Goodacre and P. BellI ringer securing the premiei ■ awards. It is somewhat strange that the entries in ducks should be sc scanty, especially considering the incen i tive to breeding good stock offered b5 , the English market. There was a ven . strong show of pigeons of various sorts, 1 Mr. J. Hurle's carriers and dragoonf ■ and Mr. Qoodacre's homers beine ; greatly admired, while Messrs. Falk f & Fitzgerald took the championship j and other prizes for some splendid birds ; in various classes. The show ol ! canaries was the best that has been seen for many years, and it must hav( ; been a great satisfaction to Mi«a H.ay- , wood to have again (for the third time) secured a first and special. Tber« ■ was altogether a very creditable arraj | of cage birds, and the interest of tht ; lady visitors largely centred on thesf i exhibits. The Society is to be con- • gratulated on holding an exceptionally : good all-round exhibition, and it it ( satisfactory to learn that the verdicts . of the judges were, in the main, en . dorsed by the large number of viaiton i who were present on the opening day, The following is the prize list [ GAME.
