TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —What an indictment of our vaunted civilisation in the words quoted by you as falling from the lips of Mr Ngatn, " civilisation must come, and ivhat is the concomitant ? liquor." Air. Editor, can you give us any good •enson why lhese two things should be nseparable ? Can we not, at least so 'nr as the King Country is concerned, ' et the one come minus the other ? ' tVhy should the boasted liberty of the ' vhite man prove the curse of his ' mtive brother ?
