Note—Tho "M " Manure gave i... best results in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Governmeut Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth ReDoit of Agricultural Dapartmeat) The experiments made at Momohaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that the ruse result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steame'l bone dui<; and two-thirds basic s'lig (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the be ; t result, at a minimum cosf, was from a mixture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the VV.AI.E. Co's "M" Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as ihe VV.M.E. Co.'s No. 3 Mixture, tbe proportions being a little different. The former comUnation points to the fact, now generally recognised, that the value of banc slag, also know as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly und'er-oetimated. Tho W.M.E.
