AN IMPERIAL CONGRESS.
♦ [MB PBSBB ABBOCIATION.J S- (Iteceivad 28,10.15 a.m.) Loudon, Juno 27. The Imperial Congress of Chambers -, of Oommeroß opened to-day, when 400 delegates were present representing all parts of the Empire, including fifty from Australia. Loid 8»loo.ne presided, and stated that tenders would shortly be invited „ for laying a Pacific cable. He dwelt upon the question of Imperial defences, urging the colonies to complete their. load defences and to make a stock of material available in the event it' should be desirous to proffer aid to the Motherland. Thecongresß resolved that I it was desirable to form an Impetial | "consultative council of the Motherland < and colonies for the purpose of considering and advising on Imperial and colonial questions.
