THE NORTHERN TRUNK RAILWAY.
WELLINGTON ADVOCATES THE CENTRAL ROUTE. (I'EU PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington', June 25. At a public meeting to-night to discuss the prose.u'i.n of the Northeri Trunk Ilulvvty, the following resolution was cirried "That this meeting strongly and respectfully u> ges upon tlv Government the neceet-i y of completing, with as little delay as possible, the North Islatd Main Tiuok Railway by what is known as the Central route and connecting this ci-'y with Auck land." In proposing this resolution, Mr. J. Hutchesoc, M H.R., hinted tha' third might be direct communicatioii between Wellington and 'Fiisco ere long, apart from the mail line. An ii'lluential committee was formed to furthir the ol.jtjcts of tha meeting, iucluding the Mayor and Council and the local members of Parliament.
