PEACE CELEBRATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—By your issue this morning I notice the Patriotic Committee have decided, among other things, to hold a fireworks display in the Recreation Grounds on th 9 evening of peace celebration day. The Fire Brigade are also arranging for a procession the same evening in the public streets. Instead of these two separate displays, would it not be much better to unite forces and have a good turn out in public, where everyone can witness and enjoy it ? The fireworks in the .Recreation Grounds on Carnival Festival were very «njoyable, but che season of the year should be taken into consideration. The nights are cold, and often wet, and I venture to think very few people will go to the Recreation Grounds if the weather should be as cold as it is this evening. Besides, if people pay a shilling for admission they rightly expect to see a good pyrotechnic display, whereas with half the expense a good torchlight procession could be held with a good •wuliro (on Marsland Hill) for a. finale. U the Committee issue collecting cards do doubt they would meet with a ready ivspon.ne in shillings and sixpences from ji.hu public. Trusting some abler pen ih.iri niiuo will further agitate and get tlift Ciiiumittee to alter their evening's pi-ogiiimme. —I am, etc., June 14, Jfo, 67,
