Sims, wife of - a labourer, committed , suicide by taking," Rough on Rats." i The reason for the deed is not known. ; The deceased leaves a husband and, , seven children. Du*edin, June 14. A fatal accident occurred this afternoon on the railway at the bridge at Pelichet Bay. Edith May Lucas, ten years, and a companion, seven years, played truant from one of the town schools, and wandered on to the railway bridge. When the goods train from Port Chalmers was approaching, the ohildren appear to have seen the train, and the youngest slipped underneath the bridge, but Lucas appeira to havo been paralvsed with fear and was struck by the engine as she ftood on the sidu of the line. The accident was se;n from Pelichet Bay station, but when the officers reached tha spot the child was dead, her neck baviDg been broken. The father of the child is a butcher on the Elingamite.
