In reply to protests, the A.fti.P, directors publish a lengthy reply in favour of the extension of business, They state that they are supported by 28 leading commercial and professional . men conducting the Society's affairs in other colonies, who are satisfied! that the extension would secure a reduction in the cost of management. Napieu, June 14. A'large and influential meeting of policy-holders in the Australian Mutual, Provident lrepres')i)tiDgpo)icifcßamounting to nearly £50,000, was held to-day co protest against the extension of the Society's business to Great Britain, The following resolutions were carried: —" That it is desirable that an organ* wation be formed of the policy-holders in New Z.aland opposed to the extension of the Society's business to Great • Britain; th it those present at this . in «eii(jg pledge themselves toforwaid ucb an organisation, and ideo to opp>« ho proponed ixensio:i,and if a resolution appioving such extension be car- : ied at the meeting to be hold on 20th July, to use every endeavour to procure the rescision of such resolution." " That it is desirable that tb« directors of the Society for New Zealand be required to ascertain the views if policy holders in New Zealand be'ore recommending or supporting any alterations in the policy of the Society, and repoit such views to head-quarters."
