A CONFERENCE OF PREMIERS SUGGESTED. [row associatios.] (Beceived 18,9.60 a.m.) Melbourne, June 12. Mr. McTiwhi wired the other Premiere that in view of the strong feeling against the proposed amendment of Clause 74 of the Commonwealth Bill, he would suggest a Conference of Premiers to consider the matter; also, in view of the intricate legal questions involved, that the Attorneys-General should attend. The South Australian Premier replied that he was extremely dissatisfied with the proposed compromise with reference to appeals, but •* we have no au'iioiiiy to agree to anj amendment of tbe Bill, therefore 1 think, without conference, we should ajrree to represent that the Bill be passed without amendment."

Becefred 13,1.40 a.m. Sydney, June 12. Sir W. J. Lyne, Premier, considers it useless for the Premiers to confer as to clause 74, as there is no power to alter the Bill. The matter will be felly discussed by Parliament. The Hon. E. Barton has cabled tbat the proposed verbal amendments to the clause are not yet definitely known. I
