Wellington, June 4. At the Supreme Oourti Frederick Ward was found Not Guilty of robbery from the person. Ernest JF. Andrews pleaded Guilty to theft, and was remanded for the probationer's report. Cheistchuech, June 4. James Pope, for assault on his wife at Governoi's Bay, was sentenced to three years, The Judge remarked that if any scheme could be devised to protect the public he would recommend the authorities to release the prisoner. Samuel Coleman, by his guardian (his father, Robert Coleman), sued the St. Albans Borough Council for £2OO damages. It was alleged, on behalf of the plaintiffs, that in consequence of negligence of the Borough Council in leaving a heap of road scrapings by the roadside he had, while crossing the road, stumbled over this heap and fallen and broken his left arm in two places. The jury awarded p'aintiff .£3O damages.
