WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, May 31. The award in connection with tte Municipal tramways has been delivered. The main points submitted to the three arbitrators—Sir James Prendergasfr, Messrs J. Dutkie and T. G. McCarthy—were: (1) Fair and proper price to be paid by the ccrporaliou to proprietors for all property held >r used in connection with the Wellington city tramways; (2) what is a fair ivernge < f the anr,ua\ sum to rt present '.he net annual profits that lh« proprietors would reasonably be expected ■o make during the unexpired portion of the period (ibout 2| years) of the term granted them iu 1888? The irbitrators fixed the pace at .£19,382, tnd the annual profit at £4920. The City Council carried a resolution thanking the arbitrators for the high public spirit shown in declining any reward fee for the onerous duties, at the sime time expressing satisfaction at the award, which, it was declared, would meet with the approval of the ratepayers. The Mayor was also thanked for the part he had taken in bringing the tramway question to an issue.
