Newton Kino reports :—At the Haymarket ,on Saturday—small pigs made 4a 6d to 6s; medium stores, 7s to Us Several horses sold at from £2 5a to £5 10s. Maize made Bs. per bushel. At tho Mart, fowls made 8d to Is 4d; potatoes, 4s, A large quantity of sundries was disposed of at low rates. Oattle.—At Stratford, on Tuesday, the yards were full of cattle notwithstanding the miserable cold and rainy weather, The sale passed off well, young cattle were in ■. strong demand, and all classes were compsted for. The advance in fat stock and the recent heavy sales have, no doubt, helped s matters; there is also a very active demand - outside particularly for young cattle. Bmall calves made lis to 15s; yearlipgs, £1 lis to £1 15s ; 2£-year steers to £3 17s; store cows, £2 14a to £3 2s ; 2-year steers, " £2 17s 6d to £3 Is; springing hoifers, . £3 2s to £3 10s. At Rahctu on Wednesday owing to the heavy gale, very few cattle were yarded, and the attendance was small, nearly all young , cattle sold at fair prices. Weaners made 14s 6d; good calves, £1 5a 6d to £1 10s; springing heifers, £2 16s.

Auckland, May 25. Messrs. Buckland and Sons report:— At tiiu Haymarket, on li'riday last, meadow hay sold at 2s Gd to 3s 3d; oaten sheaves, 2s ad to 3s per cwt; straw, lis Lo £1 -Is per load, delivered. There was a large entry of horses, but the greater number were of a weedy and poor class, and for those competition was dull, aud many remained unsold. For young sound horses there is a good demand, aud wo sold heavy spring cart sorts up to L 26 103; useful active horses, Ll4 to L 22; fair strong hacks up lo LL2 10s ; ordinary sorts and light trap horses, L 4 to L 7 each.
On Tuesday, at the Remuera weekly sale of skins, hides, tallow, etc., wo had considerably more than the average amount lo put through, lfor skins and hides competition was good and prices ruled a shade better than last quotation, but tallow was at least 2s per cwt lower in value, consequent upon late advices from London. Skins sold from 2s 6d to 3s 7d, for fresh butchers; Is 6d to 2s 6d for dried and country skins; 9d to Is 3d for small inferior skins. A few bags of crossbred wool sold from 4Jd to Gd per lb; ox hides, 4d to the greater number from 4|d to sd; cow bides, 3Jd to 4-Jd, or mostly about 3|d; calf, 3£d to fid per lb; horse skins, 3s Gd to 5s 6d each; tallow, 16s Sri to 18s 6d cwt; rough fat, to If d lb. J At Remuera, on Thursday, owing to its ] being Queen's Birthday and starting an hour earlier, there were no store cattle or dairy cows yarded. Fat calves, in less than average numbers, were better worth. Fresh dropped were from 5s to 7s each ; medium, 10s to 14s; heavy weights, LI 12s (30 sold). Fat cattle, yarded in average numbers, were at late values. Steers were from 17s to LI per 1001b; cows to 17s. Steers ranged in price from L 5 to L 9 12s Gd each, cows, hi to L 7 5s (220 sold). Sheep, short of requirements, were firm at last week's prices. Heavy wethers brought from 17s to 18s 6d each; lighter weights, lis 6d to 16s ; ewes, 10s to 17s 6d. No lambs yarded. Pigs in average supply were dull of sale.
