MILITARY BALL.
There was a record attendance at the Volunteer Ball held on Thursday night. The Drill Hall presented a gay and animated appeara—ncennmerous and varied flags tastefully arranged decorating tho walls. The officials who had charge of affairs worked with energy and in harmony, so that from start to finish all went well. The Ladies Com- ; mittee consisting of Mesdames Cock, E. M. Smith, Eva and Whittington, and Misses L. Lambess and Nicholls, were responsible for the supper which was laid out in an elaborate style. The gentlemen's eommittee consisted of Lieut. 6. Cock, Lieut. Holmes, ColSergt. Waldie, Sergts. Lister, Messenger, C. L. MacDiarmid, A. M. McDiarmid, Corporals Goldwater and Nixon, and Privates Gilmour and j Holdsworth, In the centre of the hall t a light platform was j aised, and from c this Mr. McKinnon Bain's orchestra provided the necegsaiy music, this arrangement giving the dancers ample room. The excellent floor, the good music, and the convenient arrangements gave satisfaction to those vvhoj took par til in the proceedings and reflected credit on the officials generally, j
