Ten thousand Ashantis surrounded Colonel Hodgson at Kurudsi Fort on the 29th. Desperate fighting occurred, the rebels being routed with great loss. . Several guns were abandoned. Some natives used arms with great precision. Two of the constabulary were killed and 133 wounded. The situation on the 3rd was reassuring.
