A WIN FOR CAMBRIDGE. [PBB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received 1, 6 p.m.) London, March 31. Th« University boat race resulted in an easy win for Cambridge. The weather was bright, and there was- a slight breezt. The tide was heavy, but the water smooth. Oxford chose the Surrey side, and rowed, at the outset, 36 strokes to the minute, while Cambridge, pulling a long, steady stroke, rowed 38 to the minute, dropping later to 30 against Oxford's 32. Cambridge shewed a good swing and leg drive, and led as they liked. They had a four lengths advantage passing Walden's Wharf, six at Crabtree Reach, and eight at Hammersmith Bridge, which was shot in 7min, lOsecs. Cambridge were sixteen lengths ahead at Oheswick Church, their time being llmin. 28sec. They were twenty lengths ahead at Barnes 1 railway bridge, the time being 15min. 34sec., and passed the finishing post at Mortlake with a quarter of a mile lead, finishing in the time of 18min. 47sec. Oxford's time was 19min. 45sec. The Oxford crew rowed a plucky race, but were distressed at the finish, They were equally cheered with Cambridge. H, H. Dutton, a South Australian, acted as Oxford's bow. A launch landed a number of sightseers of the boat race at L<»ndon Bridge.
