LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTION.

[PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, March 21. The Licensing Committee election passed oft very quietly. Neither the Trade nor the Prohibitionists appeared to exert themselves to any degree. The election resulted in the return of tbe mederate, or rather the publican, ticket members, those returned being : —Rev. Van Staveren, 3015; C. E. Willeston, 2929; Paul Coffey, 2902; J. Young, 2876 ; J. B. Harcourt, 2867. The Prohibition Party had on their ticket Jno. Smith, jun., 1930; D. Robertson, 1926; A. Hoby, 1908 ; Rev. W. A. Evans, 1802; and H. J. White, 1606. W. G. Tustin, who stood as an Independent candidate, polled 1038. The result of the voting shows that the supporters of either party stuck pretty close to their ticket.
