THE RIVAL CABLES.
(PEli Pit ESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, March 8. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting a communication was received from the Queensland Chamber, urging the immediate construction of the Pacific cable. It wan decided to bring the matter under the notice of the Government. Replying to the Chamber, the Postmaster-General s'ates that he cannot at present see his way to alter the inland rate of telegrams,
