The departure of the fourth Contingent has been fixed for March 24 The organiiing Committee of the Fourth Contingent have so far made no recommendations as to any officers for the Otago Company or the Southland half-company. All appointments are so far acting. A recommendation for permanent officers will be made on Friday. There are in camp at Forbury 158 men in all, eight being emergencies, who, it is understood, will go into the Fifth Contingent if not required for the fourth. Trooper Watt was to-day severely kicked in the stomach by a horse. It is expected he will not be laid up more than a couple of days. For the Fifth Contingent there are now 65 men in camp at Tahuna Park. These were put through dismounted drill, as there are only a few horses in camp, which is under charge of the Permanent Artillery. Wellington, Maich 7. Camps for the Fifth Contiugent will be at Wellington and Christchurch. Two hocdred and fifty enter camp here next week, from whom 150 will be selected, and be reinforced from Auckland. Colonel Sommerville will have charge of the camp here. Government House grounds, which were kindly lent by Lord Ranfurly, presented a pretty and animated scene this afternoon, on the occasion of the garden fete arranged by Lady Douglas, in aid of the More Men Fund. The Premier opened the proceedings, and there were several thousands present, only a small charge being made at the gates daring the afternoon. About £IOO was taken, and to-night the grounds are densely packed. It is expected that the fund will benefit to the extent of at least £3OO. Auckland, March 7. The Bough-riders Fund is over £4OOO. There are 500 applications, principally from country districte, for the Fifth Contingent. CHEisrcHimcH, March 7. There are now 133 men in the Fifth Contingent camp. At the afternoon parade, Lieut.-Colonel Slater read out the altered conditions of service, which vera unanimously accepted by the men. Ibe marching wts good, and the progress made is veiy satisfactory. Major Wright has joined the camp. CReceived 8,1.50 am. Sydney, March 7. It is expected that the transport Gymeric will suil for Wtlliagionto morrow night.
