EDUCATION BOARD.
The Education Board met on Wednesday, Present: Mr. McAllum (chairman), Miss Heywood, Messrs. Paul], Wade, Mackay, Allsworth, Outfield, i Adlam, and Hignett. The Architect was instructed to report on the Pembroke Road School upon applications from the Stratford, iDglewood, Pukearuhe,' Omata, and Cardiff Committees, i In response to the application of the Kaimata Committee for a grant towards a shelter shed, they are to be informed that for country schools the Board only grant £1 for £1 up to £l2 10s for shelter sheds, and that this sum has been granted to the Kaimata Committee.
The Matau Committee are to be requested to furnish an estimate for deepening the well, and that the Board j do not provide swings for the children/ The Chairman's action in appointing Mrs. Stock as temporary teacher at Albert Road was confirmed.
The following appointments were confirmed Miss E. Campbell, second assistant Stratford High School; Miss Eleanor F. Riley (Oakura), Carrington Road; Miss Mary M. Moore, Albert Road ; Miss Laura Riley, Pohokura ; MissYosper, sewing teacher, Stanley Road.
The Waitara Committee applied to have the irregular attendance clauses of the Act enforced more rigidly by the Truant Inspector. The matter was referred to that officer. A grant of £6 was made towards the I expenses of a gate at the master's residence, subject to Mr. Hignett's approval of the work when done. The Tataraimaka Committee were granted £6 towards a shelter shed. Mr. Tocker is to be informed that the Board decline to take any action relative to the dispute between himself and the secretary of the Stratford School. The Durham Road Committee are to be informed that the Board have arranged for an additional half-acre of land; that the cost of transfer will not be deducted from the grant of £2O ; and that the only alteration to the building will be by enlarging it. The Board agreed to find the wire and staples for the road fence at the Huiroa school; also to provide a chair for the school. The question of filling the scholarship vacated by Percy Blanchett was referred to the Inspector. Jas. McGrath was granted a seven years' lease of section 16, block 12, Huiroa, on usual terms. A sufficient quantity of grass seed has been ordered to be supplied to the Tututawa Committee for grassing the school site lately fallen and cleared. Mr. Storriog is to be informed that he must at once comply with the conditions of the lease of section 20, block 13, Waitara. Mr. Hignett gave notice of motion, "That the School Commissioners be requested to purchase at least half an acre of additional land adjoining the Kaiauai Sohool site.'% Accounts were passsd, an! the Board rose.
