Commandant Cronje is using rockets to attract assistance. His forces have burrowed into the river banks, which have been converted into a shell-proof rabbi;, warren. A British balloon indicated the position of four ammunition waggons in tlio liver bed, the iiritish exploding them within an hour afterwards. Major De Montmorency, of Montmorency's Scouts, and Colonel Hoskier were killed while reconnoitring Stormberg. Twenty additional Canadians were wounded in the advance attack on Cronje. (Received 27, 2.15 pm.) London, February 26. Latest advices state that British Engineers are sapping towards Cronje's laager. Lord Koberts has allowed a German ambulance to assist Cronje. THE AGENT-GENERAL'S MESSAGE. Wellington, February 26. The Agent-General cables London, February 26 : —" One of Cronje's divisions escaped on Wednesday, but French captured many. Buller appears to be making small progress in the direction of Ladysmith."
