FIERCE AMD DETERMINED* BOERS BADLY REPULSED. BUT TAKE THE POSITION. TWO COMPANIES OF A BRITISH REGIMENT CAPTURED. |(Reoefred 19, 8.50 a.m.) Londojt, February 18, The fighting which took plaoe at Receburg on Monday was of a fierce and determined character. Four thousand Boers attacked a hill defended by the Worcester Regiment, and were badly repulsed, losing at least 100 killed. Ultimately the Boers occupied Ronsburg, Two companies of the Wiltshire Regiment, who were holding a post in the vicinity of Rensburg, were forgotten when the British retired to Arundel, and were captured. ARRIVAL OK MEN SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN LOST. (Received 19,11.30 p.m.) London, February 18. A portion of two companies of the Wiltshire Regiment, who were behind when the British retired to have arrived at the latter place.
