He read a letter from . | Captain Okey, of the Taranaki Rifla 1 Volunteers, signifying his interest and sympathy in the matter, and expressing willingness to assist in any way. v Mr. Paul expressed his surprise that 0 two corps had not been formed long a ago. fi The Mayor then put the resolution 01 to the meeting, and it was carried w unanimously. ft The following officers were elected:— Captain, Mr, L. M. Taunton; first lieutenant, Mr. J, Cook; second lieut- 81 enant, Mr. C. E. Hood. The compuny is to be known by tho title of " The Taranaki Guards."
