The imports into the colony during the December quarter amounted to .£2,400,460, including XI 17,575 of specie, as against £2,187,406 for the corresponding quarter of 1898. For the year the total was .£8,739,633, ngainst £8,230,600 for the previous year. The returns for the principal ports areAuokhnd £2,211,719; Wellington, £2,067,111; Ohristchoroh, £1,449,473; Dune-din, £1,846,969. fhe exports for the same quarter wvn £2,762,537, not including the valua at Worses, forage, etc., sent to the Cm* (pith the contingent, against jf1,958,610 or the December quarter of 1898. The ;otal for the year was £11,938,33$ igain&t £10,517,955 in 1898.
