'THE RECREATION GROUNDS BOARD X beg to armouhie that on WEDNESDAY evening next, being the first Race Night, is is intended to give a Grand Display of Fireworks in aid of the Fund now being raised to send Taranaki Rough-riders to South Africa. The Fireworks have been imported direct from Brock and Co., of the Crystal Palace, with the intention of utilising them to produce revenue for the Grounds, but the Board has decided to devote onehalf of the shipment to this most deserying object. The programme will include items never before seen in TaraDaki, and the Public may confidently look forward to a real treat both to big people and little ones. A number of monster balloons will be sent up and the Grounds will be illuminated with a profuse assortment of Chinese lanterns. The City Band has promised its valuable assistance.
