AN ABSCONDING BANKRUPT ARRESTED.

[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, January 8. E. G. Daley, bankrupt, for whose capture £2OO was offered, was arrested at Helensville and brought to town today. Lateh, Constable Kelly, of Helensville, received information of Daley from a settler of Kirikapaka, and with native Constable Williams searched tho bush at Makarau. After an hour and a half's work, Williams detected footprints and foliowod thorn. He found Daley reading a newspaper. Daley recognised Kelly, and said he was quite prepared to go with him. When the cise was before the Court this morning, Mr. Napier, solicitor for the prosecution, said ha had witnesses who had seen Daley in possession of 1950 sovereigns, and bo understool thai there ware another 3000 somewhere He cbjtittkd to bail, but the Bench tix<'d it at £IOOO and two sureties of I £SOO each.
