(Received 11.10 a.m.) London., May 14I At the Imperial Conference day, Mr Stanley Baldwin drew attention to their Majesties’ generosity Ju allowing the conference to be held in a Royal Palace for the first time in history. Mr Baldwin then read the message to be dispatched to the King and Queen“ The Prime Ministers and other representatives of the Commonwealth desire, as the first official act, to present their respectful duty and loyal devotion and pray that the reign so auspiciously inaugurated on Coronation Day may be happy and prosperoous and that your Majesties, under Divine Providence, may lon-g be spared to strengthen the ties of affection and loyalty uniting the peoples of the Commonwealth under the Crown.” The message was then immediately despatched to the PalaceMr Baldwin declared: “In all human relationships co-operation is most fruitful when 'based, as in our Empire, on mutual loyalty and trust. Progress is ensured by free discussion and tolerance. “We have given the peoples of this distracted world proof that combined work amongst the nations is as possible as social life is to individuals.” “I am confident that whatever our problems are we be abl& to find a solution through co_operation.” The King replied, thanking the delegates for their message of loyalty and devotion, and stating: “It is most fitting that the solemn ceremony of Wednesday is succeeded immediately by your deliberations, which I shall follow with the greatest interest, confident in the hope that they will advance the happiness and prosperity of all peoples.” The mesage was signed George R.I. in his Majesty’s own hand.
