Itf most important provision reduces the maximum working hours of women and children to 48 hours a week, and nine hours a <Uty, exclusive of meal times, which is a substantial idvance on the existing lav', wTrich permits a 1 maximum of 60 hours weekly, except in textile factories, where the maximum is 55J hours. A provision which is likely to raise •riticism is that women and young people shall be allowed to work overtime up to an aggregate of 100 hours a year and up to a maximum of six hours in -any given week.
