The employers in 40 metropolitan foundries to-day served notice to over 2000 employees that their tervices were not required until further notice. Morts Do"k and Cockatoo TSTand dock arc now involved in the lockout that 'began yesterday with an ultimatum to the employers of the Clyde Engineering Company and of Gordon Marr and Sons, where strikes had occurred, that if the men did not return to work by to-day the whole ot the metropolitan foundries would close forthwith. A mass rnftlng nt employees will be held to-morrow.
