AGE DIFFERENCES.
Women Who Keep Their Youth. Special—By Air Mail. London, February 13. Women in their late forties ran, jumped and danced on three-inch planks side by side with girls in their teens at the Albert Hall, London, one afternoon this week. After the performance, Lord Dawson of Penn, the King’s doctor, challenged the audience to tell the difference in their ages. “They seem to have discovered tiie secret of perpetual youth,” he saM. Dressed alike in short azureJTiue tunics and sandals, the women, aged 17 to 47, took part in an “England and Denmark” fitness demonstration. They are London business and professional women. With them, was a team of 24 Danish farmers. The Danish farmers brought down the house with a goose-step in which the audience could count almost every muscle in their bodies, and double hand-springs over a vaultinghorse in a living, unbroken stream.
“Got any pipe tobacco fit to smoke?” | he barked. “A new chum,” thought! the tobacconist; “plenty of side on, j too!” Then to the stranger: “What kind of tobacco d’ye want, mister—medium or full?” “Medium! Meedium!” replied the customer impatiently, “but no rubbish, mind! I’m a connoisseur. Here —let’s have an ounce to try out. If it’s right, I’ll come again.” He blew in again next day. “That imported tobacco I had yesterday —don’t know what it was, but I’ll take a pound.” “Certainly,” said the tobacconist, “but that wasn’t imported; that was New Zealand tobacco, Navy Cut No. 3.” Go on!” said Mr. Newchum incredulously. “Yes, grown and manufactured in the Dominion,” continued the weed merchant; “toasted, too. That means practically harmless. Cuts out nicotine. Oh! five brands: Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Riverhead Gold, and Desert Gold.” “Well, if it’s not imported it’s every bit as good,” commented the customer. “Some of my ‘regulars’ says it’s better,” replied the tobacconist, “You live and learn, don’t you?”
