SMALL FARM AREAS

CO-OPERATIVE SYSTEM? Mr. McCombs’ Recommendation. Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, March 15. As a result of his observations during a tour of the King Country, Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P., for Lyttelton, intends to recommend to the Government the institution o fa co-operative sysitem of small farms instead of individual farming on limited area.

Mr McCombs said in an interview to-night that he found in every dis triet men working hard on very small farms who were finding difiiculty in earning a living and were in favour of some co-operative- system which would enable groups, instead of indi viduals to' meet economic difficulties.. An individual, said Mr McCombs, was unable to meet the losses incurred by adverse seasonal conditions and market variations,. He consider ed it would be better to give the men system sothatfi holdings of 300 acres on a co-opera tive system, so that a group could share: the profits? or losses.
