AUTUMN SHOW
PEOPLE’S DAY RING EVENTS. Satisfactory End to New Venture. There was a large attendance on Saturday for the finial day of the Antumn Show, although the crowd could not be compared with that which usually attends People’s Day at past spring carnivals organised by the Stratford A. and P. Association. A large picnic from New Plymouth, usual week-end sports features land an important dairy conference were, of course, counter-attractions, paid the smaller attendance coulu no'] wholly be due to any lessening in interest in the autumn fixture.
Tihe Grand Parade of stock was a splendid sight. Led by the Stratford Pipe Bland under Drum-Major Herdman and marshalled b'y Mr A. Stewart, it Was composed of over 120 beautiful pedigree dairy cattle and a par ade of magnificent horses and ponies. Because of the blocke in the centre of the oval arranged for the. chopping events, the parade was not drawn up in the centre as on former occasions, but the whole spectacle v.Us nevertheless, very imposing. Th e public were' well Watered for by a full programme of ring events, including jumping competitions and axemen's events. There were also two trotting events, both of v'/ich captured the interest of the crowd and the initial attempt of the Association to stage shopping matches mef with the fullest support.
The catering arrangements for both days were capably carried out by ladies connected with the Association and they gave excellent service for luncheon: and afternoon tea patrons. The Stratford Citizens’ Band under the conductorship of Mr A. J. Kelly, Played during Saturday afternoon, and the side-shows contributed their quota of fun to the oarnivul. DANCING RESULTS.
