PROVISION FOR INCOME

Duke of Windsor’s Future. Press Association—Copyright. London, March 12. Mr D. Lloyd George intends to protest to the committee framing King George’s civil list against the lack of State provision for an income tor the Duke of Windsor. He said it was scandalous' that the former King should be left without an income when all other members of the Royal Family were provided for. “It is generally admitted that he behaved most decently in abdicating in order to make no difliculty for the reigning King,” Mr Lloyd George addod. *lt is the heighth of meanness and vindictiveness not to provide for him.”

Newt-Chronicle understands that Mr Winston Churchill shares these views. Mr Lloyd George is a member of the committee. .

“I am loyal to the Throne, whoever occupies it, but that is nothing to do with the treatment of a man who has been King and who abdicaed rather than make trouble for his successor or the Government.”

A message from the King relating to the civil list will be brought to the House of Commons ou Tuesday.
