NATIONAL RESERVE BAND CARNIVAL.
The National-Reserve Band Carnival, which will be opened by the Mayor, will be hold in the Theatre Royal, commencing on Monday next at S o'clock and continuing until April 17tii next. It is trusted the Carnival will meet with the public support the band has so deservedly earned during the last five or moro years. The proceeds are to purchase new instruments, or, rather, to complete the balance of the amount already in hand. A strong and capable committee is working very energetically to make the whole function a thorough success in every way. Miss Dorise Guise, of Wellington, and recently of Sydney, is personally directing the whole programme of dance specialities, ballets, stage effects, etc., and as Miss Guise's abilities are well known the entertainment portion of the programme is an assured success. The programme will be further augmented by a first-class orchestra and will be conducted by Mr Charles Webley. Little Wilma Joy, an eight-year-old toe soloist, will be" a special attraction, and by reports this young artist will be a great acquisition to tffe Carnival. The price of admission to the Carnival is Is, but season tickets may be procured at 2s 6d. It is hardly necessary to remind our readers that the band did its share in farewelling and welcoming home the different reinforcements, and that in every way it is worthy of the public's support The band receives no Government capitation, and is urgently in need of new instruments. The 12th Regiment Band will assist.
