SCIENCE TO THE RESCUE

London, Feb. 10. Professor Frederick Soddy, in a remarkable book, predicts that science will abolish tho struggle for existence as regards fuel and food. "Discoveries in radio-activity," he says, "'have shown that in the smallest atoms of matter all around us there arc stores of energy a million times greater than any yet harnessed, and limitless physical power awaits humanity." Answering thoso who fear that humanity will die when the supplies, of coal are burnt up, the professor says that science is revealing that the elements have been pouring out energy, force, and heating power for interminable periods. . Professor Soddy holds that the moon is not dead, and believes that alchemy 'is possible by varying atoms in the elements.
