NELSON JOCKEY CLUB.
TO-DAY'S MEETING
The Nelson Jockey Club's annual race meeting will commence at Richmond Park to-day, the first event being timed to start at 12.5 p.m. The war restrictions in regard to the railway service having, been .removed, a convenient timetable has been arranged, particulars "of which have been advertised.
The fine weather of the past two days has improved the course, Avhich was very heavy after the continuous rain experienced last week. It should be in fair order to-day.'
Large numbers of visitors have arrived from the North Island and adjoining districts, and more are expected by this morning's steamers and overland from Mnrlborough. All accommodation in the town has been booked for some time, and given fine Aveather there should be a record attendance. The Mayor invites citizens to close their premises at 11 o'clock to-day, and the Softgoods Association has intimated that its members will close at that hour.
The acceptances received are very satisfactory, particularly in the open and trotting events, and the public should be rewarded with a good day's sport. Official race cards for the Nelson Trotting Club's meeting will be on sale on the course this afternoon after 3 p.m. Vitetta Bros.' orchestra will provide a programme of music each day.
