ANOTHER MOKOIA MESSAGE.
[Pee United Pbess Association.]
Wellington, Feb. 25. A wireless from the Mokoia states that a heavy swell on Saturday made travelling uncomfortable. Sunday broke clear with a following wind. On Friday Commissioner Platts gave an interesting lecture on the* €oofc Islands.
• Saturday's wireless messages tell of extensive preparations for a welcome at Rarotonga, where deputations from the island Council, settlers, natives, fruitgrowers, and European traders await the ■visitors^ It is reported that a conflict nas arisen between the latter and the Commissioner over the policy of the fßput trade.
Mr Massey's radio of the coal settlement was applauded on receipt, and members heartily endorsed Sir James Allen s congratulatory reply. • There is no padre aboard, but an impressive Sunday service was conducted ,blF T James Allen reading the Lessons and Mi- Isitt preaching a sermon. The Mokoia will probably arrive at Rarotonga on Tuesday evening. The delay is due to poor coal. The party are realising the distance separating i\Q\\* Zealand from its dependencies
