But for the action of the Anchor ■ Company the situation wo\ild have been serious, as many industries would , ha-ve been brought to a standstill, ami 'other consumers of gas would have been seriously inconvenienced. The ,\ thanks of the community are due to the Anchor Company for saving the •situation, and avoiding dependence upon the Government departments, the machinery of which works very sclowly.
