At the war memorial meeting last evening Mr Joseph Taylor mentioned in favour of the Anzac Park site, that it tvould have the advantage over the suggested Church Stens ki+a in. that it would be removed from* ecclesiastical influence. He knew, he said, of many, including Roman Catholics, who would i not attend meetings'held at the Church Steps. These remarks called forth a vigorous protest from Mr G. A. Edmonds, who. speaking as a member of the Cathedral Vestry, said that no uggostion whatever had come from the Vestry, and he protested, against any religious feeling being 1)7 ought into ttie matter. The Mayor ridiculed Mr Taylor's suggestions, • referring .to the thousands who assembled on great rublio occasions at this spot as a complete answer to the contention of Mr Taylor. Moreover, he added that the Church •authorities owned very little of the!
