•' 'A returned soldier who was charged \ ■with having been ' found drunk onThursday last, pleaded guilty. Mr. W. C. Harley,. who appeared for tlie defendant and the -Returned Soldiers' Association, urged that a conviction be not recorded. He said defendant, • •who was a stranger to Nelson, was suffering from, shell shock, and the R.S.A; would see that he was escorted to his relatives. Senior-Sergeant Barrett said that defendant had been undergoing curative treatment since he was remanded, aaid the .niedioal opinion was that he was suffering more from shell shock than the effects of liquor. ' ' i The M.a<jistrate said that it. was' dearly not a case for conviction. He oidered defendant to be kept under the control of the police until he was handed over to the representative" of the K-.S.A. . " i
