The first annual sale at Bainfield, Inveucargill, on behalf of W.D". Hunt, was a huge success, there being keen competition and high prices throughout. Between £5000 and £6000 was paid •for ihe draft stock offered. Top price for a stud Romney ram was 180 guineas, JfcliO' high average of GO guineas 'being maintained throughout. Cattle were a splendid lot also, prices of heifer calves i-angtog to 127 guineas, and for bull «aives 95 giiineas. The former averaged 70 guineas and the latter 47. •^Australian buyers were successful, but the'■ bulk of the stock was bought by Southland breeders. .
